The Nigerian police has said that 99 suspects were killed during shootouts in Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa.
According to the Assistant Inspector-General of police (AIG) in charge of Zone 5, Musa Daura, the criminals were killed in gun duels last year.

Daura, who addressed reporters in Benin, the Edo state capital, said the dead included 82 suspected robbers, nine suspected kidnappers and eight suspected pipeline vandals.
The police spokesman said police in the zone arrested 1,228 suspects, including 528 robbery suspects, 491 suspected cultists, 209 suspected kidnappers and 145 murder suspects.
He further noted that the zone recovered 4,110 arms and property valued at N293,931,400.
