The Bayelsa state supplementary gubernatorial election in Southern Ijaw local government area was reportedly marred by violence again.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had scheduled the supplementary poll to hold yesterday, January 9 after the December 5, 2015 gubernatorial election in the state was declared inconclusive following reports of violence and electoral malpractice.

Chief Timpre Sylva is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the poll.

The two major contending parties are in disagreement over the alleged violence during the supplementray poll. While the PDP has condemned the violence and called for the arrest of the culprits, the APC debunked reports that there were heavy shootings in Ekeremor that led to loss of lives..

However, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has shared graphic photos on his Twitter Handle of some of the victims during the governorship rerun election which took place yesterday.
